Jim's farm
I farm at Churton Heath Farm in Bruera, a few miles south of Chester. It's really very peaceful, and you wouldn’t believe the city is so close. The farm is 400 acres of pasture, mixed with native woodland and - believe it or not – over 40 ponds. These reduce the water burden the farm places on the environment, and also form an archipelago of wildlife refuges – so although they make cultivation more awkward, I’m happy to keep them as they are.
Together with my wife Vanessa, we’ve diversified the farm to respond to the changing way of life in the countryside. As well as the farm and butchery, we run a top-quality B & B, (Churton Heath Farm B & B) and also a premium garden toy business from the farm (Kids’ Corner).
