Chris's farm
I farm at Lane End Farm in Shocklach, on the banks of the River Dee. Lane End Farm is 285 acres of prime riverside meadow, and has nearly 2 miles of riverbank. The cattle are often to be found watering themselves in the river when it’s low in the summer months.
This is a beautiful part of Cheshire – wildlife experts have found otters and kingfishers on my stretch of the river. FWAG (Farming Wildlife Advisory Group) built a new otter holt this year (this is one type of rural housing development that no-one can complain about!) For around 200 years the farm was on the route of the Welsh cattle drovers, on their way from west Wales to London – so the farm is no stranger to top-quality cattle.
My wife Polly is a world-class event rider and is a member of the British Three Day Event team. She runs a select private riding school and competition arena at the farm, too.
