Beef

We only rear traditional breeds at Stockton & Stratton - Aberdeen Angus and Herefords. These slow-growing breeds are eminently suited to British conditions. They lay down a good amount of fat marbled throughout the flesh as they grow, and this gives a much fuller flavour compared to modern breeds.

The cows are reared in large riverside meadows for most of the year (we only bring them inside in the worst months of winter). This means that the cows are fed on grass, not concentrate - we think this makes the beef taste better, and makes the cows happier, too.

All the beef is hung for a minimum of 21 days - the meat tenderises during this time, bringing you the delicious full flavour and texture that is characteristic of Stockton & Stratton's meat.
